Jackie Joyner-Kersee is a Olympic medalist in heptathlon “( most grueling competition in sports)”
and long jump; also, is World Champion in heptathlon and long jump. Jackie holds the World
record of heptathlon. Joyner liked to do track and field going up. She was known as “Jackie the
tomboy” from the neighborhood kids; they called her that because of her style, pigtails, cut off
jeans, and a T-shirt. As a kid, Jackie played every sport she could. She was so good that
coaches wanted Jackie to come and play for their volleyball, basketball, and softball teams.
In 1978, she was now known as an athlete, not Jackie the tomboy because she led her high
school to the basketball championship her sophomore year. The University of California is
were Jackie went to college to met her track coach/husband Bobby Kersee. As Bobby being
her coach, she racked up six Olympic medals; she won three gold medals, one silver, and two
bronzes. Jackie’s brother, Al Joyner,Jr., won the triple-jump and got a got medal. Four years
later Jackie won “outdid” Al and won two gold medals, one was in the heptathlon and the other
was in long jump. Doing all of these things Jackie put in her head that she was the greatest
female athlete. But being the great athlete that is is, Jackie had asthma and sometime had the
bring a mask so she can breathe. Winning all the medals she did and having asthma is hard to
and many athlete can but the one athlete that did is Jackie Joyner-Kersee. But is Jackie good
enough to be called the greatest athlete of all time?
